The palace

that still works

The Royal Alcázar is not a typical monument. In fact, the Kings of Spain sleep here when they come to Seville, which means you’re not looking at reconstructed ruins or palaces abandoned centuries ago, but spaces where architecture still plays a fundamental role.

Decisions made 700 years ago still have consequences every time someone walks through a doorway or sits in a courtyard… And the Arab legacy never left: the arches, the stuccowork, the water courtyards, and the geometry of the gardens; all of it still works exactly as it was designed.

That’s what makes the Alcázar unique: even today, it is exactly what it has always been.

What you will discover on this

guided tour of the Alcázar

Alcazar de Sevilla

The Patio of the Maidens

Perfect proportions, polylobed arches, and a space where sound travels differently because it was designed so the voice would matter. It was a residence, an audience hall, and a private space that faced power head-on.
salon-embajadores-sevilla

The Hall of Ambassadors

A gilded wooden dome that supports itself using Islamic geometry, and walls inscribed in Arabic calligraphy. This wasn’t mere decoration, but verses, invocations, and reminders of who built this place.
Juego de Tronos Sevilla

The stunning Gardens

Structures where water runs through Islamic channels, where every fountain has a deliberate height, and where trees are functional, not just ornamental. They were designed to cool, to move air, and to be livable year-round.

The Upper Royal Apartments

It is still the official residence of the Kings of Spain when they visit Seville. Depending on the date, access may be possible; we’ll coordinate which areas are available when you arrive.

The Royal Bedchambers

Private spaces with cupboards, Islamic wood-burning hearths, and decorations that blend Arab and Christian elements. These are rooms where people slept—where the palace stopped being official and became a home.
Turismo Halal

The Arcaded Galleries

Corridors that wrap around courtyards, where arches play with light and the volume of the space shifts as you walk. They were circulation routes, but also places to meet, to talk, and to move through deliberately.
