One of the reasons for the success of the Game of Thrones series has been its excellent choice of locations. Throughout the 8 seasons of this television adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s novels, filming has taken place in diverse and spectacular locations such as Essaouira<\/a> in Morocco or the Mediterranean island of Malta. <\/p>\n\n

The Royal Shipyards (Reales Atarazanas) were also an important filming location for Game of Thrones in Seville, specifically to set the scene for King’s Landing. Its historic 13th-century Gothic arches, from an era when ships were built for navigation on the Guadalquivir, shelter spectacular dragon skulls in the series. <\/p>\n\n

However, not everything was filmed at the Real Alc\u00e1zar, nor even in the Andalusian capital. Within the province of Seville, our route takes us to the ancient Roman city of It\u00e1lica, now Santiponce. The episode of the seventh season in which Cersei Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen confront each other for the first time was filmed in the ruins of its amphitheater. <\/p>\n\n

Finally, it is also worth mentioning the Osuna Bullring, which, with a little special effects, served to set the scene for Daznak’s Pit, the most spectacular fighting arena in Meereen, in this case in the fifth season. The Museum of Osuna, located in the former Palace of the Arjona and Cubas Brothers, has set up a room in its facilities to display images of these scenes, a significant event for the town. <\/p>\n\n
