Granada

is understood by looking at it from its hills

There is a Granada that is not contained within any monument. It is in the cobbled slopes of the Albaicín, in the cármenes that hide a garden behind every wall, and in the viewpoints where the Alhambra appears directly in front, silhouetted against the Sierra Nevada. And it is, a little further on, on the slopes of Sacromonte, where homes were carved into the rock and flamenco found one of its homes.

The Albaicín and Sacromonte are two neighborhoods best explored slowly, looking up and letting the guide weave together what is seen with what is told: eight centuries of history, a coexistence that left its mark on every corner, and a way of inhabiting the city that time has never managed to erase.

What you will discover on this private tour of the

Albaicín and Sacromonte

mirador-san-nicolas-albaicin

San Nicolás Viewpoint

Granada's most famous panorama and, probably, one of the most photographed in Spain. From its esplanade, the Alhambra unfolds directly in front, with the Sierra Nevada in the background. A spot that takes on a special dimension at sunset, when the light dyes the Nasrid complex's walls a coppery hue.

Albaicín Cármenes

The garden-houses that define the neighborhood: a whitewashed wall, a discreet door, and, behind it, a world of grapevines, fountains, and sensational views. The cármenes are the most authentic way to understand life in the Albaicín, a direct inheritance from Andalusian Granada. Pure identity.
puerta-elvira

Elvira Gate and Zirid Wall

The oldest part of the complex and the military area of the Nasrid citadel. From the Watchtower (Torre de la Vela), where the standard of the Catholic Monarchs first flew on January 2, 1492, the views encompass all of Granada: the Albaicín on one side, Sacromonte on the other, and, in the background, the Sierra Nevada mountains. Simply spectacular.

Albaicín Streets and Squares

Plaza Larga, the Arab cisterns, the winding streets that ascend without a single straight line... The layout of the Albaicín preserves that of a medieval medina, and exploring it is the best way to understand why UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site alongside the Alhambra.
cuevas-sacromonte

Sacromonte Caves

Built after the conquest in the heart of the Nasrid citadel, this Renaissance palace deliberately contrasts with everything around it. Its circular courtyard inscribed within a square plan is one of the most unique works of the European Renaissance and now houses the Alhambra Museum.

Sacromonte Viewpoints

Beyond San Nicolás, the slopes of Sacromonte hold less-frequented viewpoints from which the Alhambra, the Albaicín, and the Darro valley can be contemplated without the bustle of other more well-known or common spots.
